Ingénieur civil électricien (Electronique-Informatique, Université de Liège, 1982), il lance la société Dedrion durant son service militaire à la Gendarmerie, au terme duquel il contribue comme informaticien à l'identification électronique des victimes du Herald of Free Enterprise.

Il effectue avec le cofondateur de la société IRIS OCR, Pierre De Muelenaere, un MBO sur cette entreprise en 1992 dont ils organisent plus tard l’introduction sur le marché NYSE Euronext en 1999.

Depuis 2001, il développe une vocation de Business angel afin de dynamiser l'économie régionale. Il est investisseur actif dans Pairi Daiza, D-Cinex, Belrobotics, dans le fond E-Capital et une dizaine d’autres PME wallonnes. Il a été membre des conseils d'administration de IRIS, de la Fondation Roi Baudouin et Président du Cluster TWIST.

Il siège aujourd'hui notamment comme Président des Conseils d'administration de EVS Broadcast Equipment, de Cluepoints et de Belrobotics , Vice-Président de l'Agence du Commerce Extérieur, administrateur d'akkanto, de CPH Banque, One Life,...

Passionné d'aviation, pilote (Aviarent Wallonie) et d'œnologie, il a créé et gère activement depuis 1993 le « Domaine de Mellemont » à Thorembais-les-Béguines avec Étienne Rigo et François Vercheval), il emmène depuis 2007, aux côtés de Eric Mestdagh et de Laurent Minguet le groupe des « Chevaliers Blancs Wallons ».

Producteur du chanteur Jean Vallée en 2002, il a été fait Citoyen d'Honneur de la Ville de Perwez, Chevalier de l'Ordre de la Couronne, Officier de l'Ordre de Léopold II, Officier de l'Ordre de Léopold Ier et Officier du Mérite Wallon.

En date du 19 janvier 2011, il a endossé la présidence du Cercle de Wallonie.

Il préside le Conseil Numérique Wallon dans le cadre du Plan Marshall 4.0.
Romain Lavault

Romain Lavault

General Partner of Partech Ventures

Romain Lavault: Romain is General Partner of Partech and joined 2013. He focuses on seed and early stage opportunities in data, mobility, internet and next-generation online services in Europe, with a particular focus on the French market.

Prior to joining Partech, Romain most recently served as a Vice President, Strategy and M&A at Dassault Systèmes, the 2nd largest software company in Europe. Romain sold and merged to Dassault Systèmes his prior company Intercim early 2011, specialized in web-based applications for advanced and distributed Manufacturing, for which he served as VP Sales Worldwide and VP Strategy. Prior to Intercim, Romain lived a unique entrepreneurial adventure with the predictive analytics startup Pertinence between France and the US, where he relocated in 2005. At Pertinence, Romain served as VP Sales and Chief Operating Officer between 2001 and 2007, until Pertinence merged with Intercim.

Romain started his career at Aeronautics & Defense group EADS. He then joined Starsem, a French-Russian satellite launch operator startup funded by EADS, Arianespace and the Russian Space Agency. At Starsem, Romain started as a Project Manager and became head sales for the North American market. Romain holds a MS in Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique (Paris) and a MS in Aerospace Engineering from SupAero (Toulouse).

Marc started his first company in 1995, providing translation and English teaching services to large advertising agencies and consulting companies. After selling it to the Institut Français de Gestion in 1997, Marc was involved in the development of several Internet companies in the Silicon Valley, such as 12 Degrees, an online travel website. Marc also contributed to the first rounds of financing of several technology companies. Marc has been active in venture capital since 2000. He co-founded the incubator Kangaroo Village in 2000, which was later purchased by Société Générale in 2002 at which point Marc took over the venture capital activity of Société Générale. Marc has followed investments and was board member for several successful digital companies such as Ekinops, Aquarelle, SI Automation, Sarenza, La Fourchette, RSI Video Technology, Selectron Systems... Additionally, Marc is an Affiliated Professor at ESCP Europe in a Master program dedicated to Entrepreneurship and sits on the board of the American Section of the Lycée International.

He is a graduate of Tufts University where he double majored in Political Science and International Relations. He also graduated from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP Europe) where he majored in Entrepreneurship.

Simon Alexandre

General manager and Partner of The Faktory

Simon is General manager and Partner of The Faktory a private tech startup incubator and seed investment fund. From 2008 until 2013, Simon was CEO of CETIC, the Center of Excellence in Information Technology and Communication in Charleroi. He led a team of 50 researchers working in applied research in the ICT industry.

With a master in History (UCL 1999) and Computer sciences (UNAMUR 2001), he is initially specialized in software development methodologies, and since 2008, has been heavily involved in the development of innovative technological projects in e-Health.

Within The Faktory, from now and in the upcoming years, Simon and his team will closely work with the startups in a business oriented and multi-disciplinary approach in order to develop new successful industrial activities. In close collaboration with the Founder, he will design and lead this unique and innovative entrepreneurial place for high tech startups.

The Faktory invests and accelerates ICT tech startup developing new product based on disruptive technologies that can be deployed on international niche markets. Startup developing innovative products in (industrial) internet of things or mobile apps are in the scope of The Faktory.
Filip Vandamme

Filip Vandamme

Managing Partner of Volta Ventures

Filip Vandamme is Managing Partner of Volta Ventures, a seed & early stage venture capital fund with a focus on internet & software in the Benelux. Filip has been in charge of corporate business development and M&A at Barco, playing a key role in the company’s growth strategy, venturing, and structuring and negotiation of its acquisitions and divestments. Before joining Barco he was active in venture capital (at FLV Fund) and strategic consulting, both in Belgium and internationally. Filip started his career at Alcatel, where he held several senior positions, including global strategy, marketing and product management of its 500 million EUR corporate network business.

As an expat, Filip lived and worked in Paris, Tokyo and Singapore. He obtained Master in Electrical Engineering (Leuven, Belgium), Business Administration (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium) and MBA (Cornell, USA) degrees.

    Thomas Depuydt is the Managing Partner of Smart Ventures, an early-stage investment firm focusing on technology companies that bring innovation to the financial industry. Previously, Thomas worked as a Portfolio Manager for iMinds, where he supported the companies that graduated from iMinds’ incubation program in their fundraising and growth efforts.

    Before that, Thomas was active in management consulting at Accenture and more recently at Bain & Company, where he advised investment funds and corporates on strategic and operational matters. Thomas studied Economics at KULeuven and Computer Sciences at University of Ghent and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School. In his spare time, he enjoys playing music and reading. Thomas was born and raised in Belgium and now lives in London with his spouse and son.
